HHIM collects wheelchairs from across the continent in order to refurbish them to nearly new condition.  Volunteers in area wheelchair workshops rebuild the chairs to nearly new condition and package the chairs for shipment overseas.

A refurbished wheelchair can be sponsored for $100. This sponsorship allows you to sponsor the wheelchair for a recipient in desperate need of mobility in a poverty-stricken country. Manual Wheelchair

A manual wheelchair comes in a variety of styles, designs, and sizes: standard folding chairs, sports chairs, rigid frame positioning, bariatric, tilt/space. The donated wheelchairs that are received are disassembled and restored to nearly new condition by area volunteers. The chair parts are cleaned, the upholstery is replaced with new fabric, and the wheels are cleaned or replaced. This chair is acceptable for a variety of disabilities and living environments, and is best for adults and large adolescents.

Power Chair

The power chair is cleaned and refurbished to working and nearly new condition. It is best used in countries that have stable electricity and access to repairs.
